Septuagesima is the traditional name for the third Sunday before Lent. The BCP 2019 restores the name without creating a separate pre-Lenten season. It is a quiet reminder that Lent is approaching and that repentance, fasting, prayer, and works of mercy deserve thoughtful preparation.
