Saint Matthias almost disappears from the biblical record after Acts 1, but Christ knew him, chose him, and appointed him to bear fruit. His feast reminds us that obscurity is not insignificance: the Christian calling is to abide in Christ, remain faithful, and trust him with the fruit.
February 24 is the Feast of Saint Matthias. He followed Jesus from the beginning, witnessed the resurrection, was chosen by lot, and is never mentioned again in the New Testament. The feast of the faithful unknown; a Red-Letter Day for the man no one remembers.
